Hugel Tasting Dinner

Discussions were held in Harrogate with Etienne Hugel, directeur general of Hugel & Fils, about the possibility of holding a gourmet dinner with Hugel wines at Rudding Park. It was agreed that the event would be hosted by Etienne himself in May 2011 with library wines from the celebrated Alsace producer. Rudding Park’s chefs will prepare a five course dinner inline with Etienne’s suggestions to pair the selected wines.

Travels in Croatia

Harrogate Medical Wine Society is putting together a wine and culture tour of Croatia for this autumn in association with Ivona Grgan of Fine Wines from Croatia.

HMWS ‘Year 20’

The 19th Academic Year of the Harrogate Medical Wine Society is drawing to its end. The 20th year commences on 1 September 2010.
Tasting events planned for the New Year include:

• “Portugal’s Best” with Sarah Ahmed
• “Pinot Noir – Six Remarkable Wines”
• “Magic of Loire Chenin”
• “Fine, Old & Rare – 3”
• “Bordeaux 2001 – 10 Years On”
• “New Zealand Syrah”

The Society is planning a Tour of Andalucía in spring 2011 with several days spent tasting in the Sherry Triangle and visits to Ronda, Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada, aided by Bryan Buckingham, the former director of the Sherry Institute of Spain.
